BBQ & Brew Competition Disclaimer, Health & Liability Agreement

BBQ & Brews is a charitable fundraising event benefiting the Housing Industry Foundation (“Event Organizer”). Participation as a Brew competitor is subject to approval and compliance with all event rules, local and state health department regulations, fire code requirements, and safety standards.

By submitting this application, the applicant (“Competitor”) acknowledges and agrees to the following:

Event & Entry Requirements

BBQ & Brews is a fundraising event, and participation is voluntary.

A $300 non-refundable entry fee is required upon acceptance to compete.

Each competing team must provide and set up their own 10’ x 10’ tent, tables, chairs.

Competitors must supply all equipment and materials necessary for participation.

Participating breweries must hold a valid California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license and comply with all applicable state and local regulations.

All alcohol service at the event will be conducted pursuant to a California ABC Special Event Permit issued to the Event Organizer and/or participating licensees.

Breweries must comply with all terms and conditions of the ABC Special Event Permit, including restrictions related to sample size, service area, service hours, and responsible alcohol service.

All beer samples must be poured in 2 oz tasting cups only. No full-size pours are permitted.

Each brewery is required to pour a minimum of two (2) and no more than four (4) beer styles.

Breweries are responsible for providing all pouring equipment and supplies, including kegs or cans, jockey boxes or kegerators, CO₂, ice, cups (if not otherwise provided), and any required power equipment.

Breweries must provide sufficient beer inventory to accommodate approximately 700 event attendees, in addition to any beer submitted for judging.

Participating breweries must provide adequate, trained staff to ensure responsible service of alcohol at all times.

The Event Organizer reserves the right to limit, suspend, or discontinue alcohol service from any brewery that is not operating in compliance with ABC regulations, permit conditions, or event policies.

Submission of a Beer Competition application does not guarantee acceptance. Selected breweries will receive additional information regarding load-in, load-out, permit documentation, and on-site compliance requirements.

Competition Requirements

Each team must submit three (3) beer samples for judging:

               (1) Light Beer - Pilsner, Lager, Blonde, or Pale Ale

               (1) Dark Beer - Amber, Brown Ale, Porter, Milk Stout

               (1) Signature or Specialty - IPA, Barrel-Aged, Fruit Beer, Sour, GF, Non-Alcoholic

Teams must also provide adequate sample serving 2oz per beer for approximately 800 event attendees, in addition to judging samples.

Failure to submit all required categories may result in disqualification from prize consideration.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

The $300 competition entry fee is non-refundable, including in the event of withdrawal, disqualification, or failure to meet participation requirements.

Written notice is required for any cancellation after acceptance.

Entry fees will be refunded only if the Event Organizer cancels the event in its entirety.

The Event Organizer reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the event due to weather, safety concerns, permit issues, or circumstances beyond its control. In such cases, entry fees will not be refunded, but may be applied to a rescheduled event at the Event Organizer’s discretion.

Breweries that fail to appear, arrive late, or do not comply with event or ABC requirements may be removed without refund.

General Terms

Submission of this application does not guarantee acceptance.

Event Organizer reserves the right to modify competition rules, schedules, and requirements as necessary.

Failure to comply with any event, safety, or health requirements may result in removal from the event without refund.
